What we receive
When you buy through Gumroad, it shares the following with us: your email address, your name if you give it, your approximate country and postcode, what you bought, and whether you've asked not to be contacted. We never see your card details. Gumroad uses your payment, tax and fraud-check details for its own purposes as a separate controller, so see Gumroad's privacy policy (https://gumroad.com/privacy) for those.
Free sample. Gumroad asks for your email to deliver the free sample, and shares it with us. We use it only to deliver the file and answer any questions about it. We won't send you marketing unless you tick the opt-in box at checkout, and that box is never pre-ticked.
Why we use it
We use it to deliver the workbook and updates to it, to answer support requests, and to handle refunds, which is how we carry out our contract with you. We also keep business and tax records because the law requires it. We'll only send marketing emails if you opt in, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Who else sees it
Gumroad, which is based in the US, processes your data for us under its data processing terms. Cloudflare, under its data processing terms, forwards emails sent to our support address without storing their content. Our support email is then hosted by Google, which handles messages under its own privacy policy as a separate controller (https://policies.google.com/privacy). We don't sell your data.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for 6 years for tax and company records. Support emails are kept for 2 years after your last contact.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, object to how we use it, or limit how we use it. To do any of these, email support@plaincolumn.co.uk. We'll reply within one month. You can also complain to the ICO at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/.
